As a tradition, the Chinese New Year was celebrated in the Old capital with a gala concert. The event was organized by the Embassy of PRC in Bulgaria, Veliko Turnovo Municipality and the Confucius Institute at UVT.
The program started with the opening of a photo ehxibition of 40 pictures from China which was exhibited in the lobby of the city theater. The citizens had the possibility to attend workshops for Chinese crafs, where the Chinese volunteer teachers from the CI demonstrated caligraphy, paper-cutting, Chinese knots‘ making, etc. People could also dress up in Chinese garments with different accessories and make photos.
During the concert the audience enjoyed the beauty of the classical Chinese dance „Fen Mo“ in 5 acts, recreating human emotions such as love, happiness, insult, sorrow, etc. The performance was made by a group of 40 professional dancers from Beijing Dance Academy, where Fen Mo is studied in the last 60 years.
