On October 13, 2023, the 10th International academic conference on “Diplomatic, Economic and Cultural Relations between China and Countries in Central and Eastern Europe” was opened in the Confucius Institute at the University of Veliko Tarnovo. More than 50 lecturers, researchers and lovers of Chinese culture from “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” University of Veliko Tarnovo, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, University of National and World Economy, “Paisii Hilendarski” University in Plovdiv, Southwest University “Neofit Rilski”, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and other educational institutions in Bulgaria and China took part in the conference.
Among the official guests at the opening were Assoc. Prof. Anna Ivanova, PhD – Vice-Rector for International Relations of UVT, Assoc. Prof. Polina Tsoncheva, PhD – Dean of the Faculty of Modern Languages, Prof. Magdalena Legkostup, PhD – Dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty, Prof. Huang Xiaomei – Secretary General of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Prof. Zhang Junfeng – Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of CUG, Prof. Yu Shiwei – Dean of the School of Economics and Management of CUG, Assoc. Prof. Fan Luwei – Vice Dean of the International Education College of CUG, Ms. Wang Min – Counsellor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria, Mr. Neyko Genchev – Deputy Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality, and Mr. Valentin Mihaylov – Deputy Governor of Veliko Tarnovo Region.
