- Summary/Abstract: Mei Fei was one of the favourite concubines of Emperor Xuan Zong (685–762) of the Tang Dynasty, whose stay in the palace coincided with that of another favourite of the emperor, Yang Guifei. But while much has been written about Yang Guifei, almost nothing is known about Mei Fei. The little that is known about her is mostly due to a copy (dating from the end of the 11th – the beginning of the 12th century) of a scroll taken by the bookseller Zhu Zundu, known by the nickname Zhu Wanjuan (“Zhu – the ten thousand scrolls”).
