- Summary/Abstract: Translation is not only a conversion between the source language and the target language, but also a cross-cultural communication activity. The incommensurability of culture leads to partial untranslatability. Based on the dispute between translatability and untranslatability, this article explains in detail the connotation and root cause of cultural untranslatability, and proposes several transformation strategies to deal with cultural untranslatability in translation activities.
