- Summary/Abstract: The present text oscillates between research, festival criticism, and personal observation. It focuses on Beijing Film Academy and the 22nd International Student Film and Video Festival (November 2023). The main thesis is that the qualitative development of national film culture is ensured by meaningful educational practices in film schools. In a highly competitive environment such as an international festival, students from various film disciplines have the opportunity to present their films. The competition highlights trends in the development of the film industry and serves as a stepping stone for future career paths. An important aspect is that the festival’s forums showcase the creative potential of young directors – the new faces of emerging Chinese cinema.
