For the third year in a row, the Confucius Institute at UVT, with the support of Burgas Municipality and the Cultural Center “Morsko Kazino,” brought the vibrant spirit of Chinese culture to the heart of the Sea Garden with its annual event, “A Touch of China.” Held on July 11, 2025, the celebration once again captivated locals and visitors alike, offering a rich immersion into the traditions of the Far East.
The festivities unfolded along the picturesque alley in front of the cultural center, where interactive workshops allowed guests to explore China’s artistic heritage firsthand. Participants tried their hand at paper cutting, crafted intricate Chinese knots – symbolizing good fortune – and practiced calligraphy with traditional brushes and ink. A culinary section delighted food enthusiasts with tastings of authentic Chinese dishes and tea, while a display of traditional clothing proved particularly popular. Attendees had the chance to dress in elegant Chinese attire and adorn themselves with ornate accessories, creating unforgettable photo moments.
The cultural journey continued on the outdoor stage with a dynamic showcase of Chinese performing arts. The audience enjoyed mesmerizing dance and music performances, poetic recitations, and demonstrations of Taijiquan – a graceful martial art blending movement, meditation, and self-defense. The event culminated in a stunning fashion show, featuring two iconic traditional garments: the Hanfu, celebrated for its ancient elegance, and the Qipao, a timeless symbol of classical femininity.
More than just a festival, “A Touch of China” was a bridge between cultures, leaving a lasting impression on all who experienced its magic. With each passing year, the event strengthens the bond between Bulgaria and China, celebrating shared appreciation for art, tradition, and beauty.
