From March 16 to 19, 2026, the city of Targovishte will host “Chinese Culture Days” to mark the tenth anniversary of the opening of the “Confucius Classroom” at I "Hristo Botev" Primary School. The initiative will offer a diverse program of lectures, presentations, workshops, and cultural events open to all lovers of Chinese culture.
The events will begin on March 16 at the “Napredak” Community Center with a lecture titled “The Chinese Calendar—Astronomy, Philosophy, and Tradition in an Ancient System,” presented by guest lecturer Ruzie Suleiman.
Presentations related to China and Chinese culture will take place on March 17 in the “Confucius Classroom” at I "Hristo Botev" Primary School, presented through the perspective of Ms. Lei Binbing, a volunteer Chinese language teacher in Targovishte.
The program will continue on March 18 with a special workshop on Chinese calligraphy, designed for students from the “Confucius Classroom”. Chinese language teacher Mr. Huang Jun will reveal to participants the magic of writing and painting.
The final day—March 19—will feature workshops on traditional Chinese crafts at the “Napredak” Community Center, and the evening will traditionally conclude with a festive concert in the community center’s concert hall, featuring many participants and surprises.
All events are free of charge.
The initiative is organized by the Confucius Institute at "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" University of Veliko Tarnovo, the “Friends of China” Association – Targovishte, and I "Hristo Botev" Primary School.
