- Summary/Abstract: The industry of language services in the “Belt and Road” areas is developing rapidly, marked by a great increase in “export-oriented” services mainly in non-common languages and supported by new technology. Meanwhile, the industry of language services in these areas is still confronted with some problems, such as the imbalance of regional development, the lack of variety in service types and languages, and the shortage of high-level language service personnel. Under such circumstances, the objectives of training Masters of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) in China should be adjusted to more comprehensive training programs. In addition, the education of MTI in non-common languages should be developed, and universities and enterprises should cooperate to provide platforms for students to master new technology of language services.
